Your Birth Story

Raw, Real, and Worth It

Giving birth is one of the most empowering experiences you will ever have as a woman. Your birth will be unique to you, your partner, and your baby, and is absolutely worth capturing in photos you will cherish for life. Birth photography is unlike anything else. It is graphic, raw, and unpredictable, but full of so much joy and beauty! The birth place is sacred, and I consider it an honor to be in it with you, watching as you bring your baby into the world.

After I see your inquiry hit my inbox and finish doing my happy dance, I’ll reach out to schedule your free, no-obligation consultation. You’ll tell me about your previous births, if any, and I’ll talk your head off about how much I love photographing birth stories! We’ll discuss the goals you have for your birth, as well as your photography preferences (ie, how much you want to see of your baby being born… the graphic stuff). If you’re ready to commit, we’ll secure your estimated date with a $500 non-refundable retainer. Then we wait!

Happy Clients

"Hayley perfectly captured the moment I placed him on my own chest."

"Hiring a birth photographer was one of the most important things to me with this being my fourth birth. I wanted to have a birth photographer there to capture the moment I was able to achieve the victorious VBAC that I so desperately prayed for, so I would always be able to look back and remember the story in its entirety. Hayley did absolutely everything I asked of her. She was very respectful of my birth space, which allowed me to feel a sense of privacy amid a very vulnerable and intimate time. I received my preview gallery less than 24 hours after I gave birth and sat there bawling crying looking through them. I had never felt more beautiful in my life. She was able to capture the real, raw emotion of me during pushing and the moment I heard the sweetest little cry from my rainbow baby I had prayed so hard for.  One day I'll be able to show my fourth son the story of the day me and his daddy met him and welcomed him into our big family. I am so glad I chose Hayley as my birth photographer. She was absolutely amazing to work with. HIGHLY recommend!"

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon should I schedule my Birth Story with Hayley Jayne Photo?

Most families contact me within their first trimester, but sometimes you don’t know you want your birth photographed until three weeks before your due date! Just reach out as soon as you’re ready.

Why should I have my birth photographed by a professional?

Listen, you are going to be having an out of body experience. Dad needs to be fully present and 100% focused on you and your baby. He won’t have time to be fumbling with a camera or cell phone trying to document the birth. He should be in the photos with you! I have had three of my own babies and been present with other birthing mamas, so I am intimately aware of the birthing process. I can tell when mom is getting close and know where to be to truly capture the most important moments - when mom reaches for her baby, the first cry, dad cutting the cord.

Are you experienced?

Yes! I have photographed births in hospitals and birth centers. I’ve also delivered in a hospital, birth center, and at home (on purpose!)! Each setting has different challenges when it comes to space and lighting, but I come prepared with flash (only if necessary) and lenses that allow me to capture the tiniest details.

Do you photograph Home Births?

Absolutely! However, due to the nature of homebirth, I prefer to work with families that have chosen to have a Certified Nurse Midwife present. My number one priority is for you to be safe while delivering your child into the world.

What if you miss
my birth?

Sometimes babies come FAST! If I don’t make it to your birth in time we have two options - either I come anyway and photograph the post-delivery events (baby’s measurements, first latch, skin to skin with dad, etc.), or I’ll return the next day for a Fresh 48 session.

Do you have
a backup plan?

Sure do! In the event I am unable to attend your birth as planned, I have three dear friends that I would trust to photograph my own birth that I can call to be my stand-in. I’ll still edit and deliver your images, I’ll just be suuuuper bummed that I didn’t get to be there myself!

How do I
see my images?

I know how eager you are to view your images! You’ll receive a password protected sneak peek gallery of 10-20 edited images within 48 hours of your baby’s birth. Images will be in full color, as well as black and white. Your full Birth Story will be delivered within 30 days of baby’s birth.

How far
do you travel?

I photograph births within about an hour of Archdale, North Carolina. This includes Natural Beginnings Birth and Wellness Center in Statesville and The North Carolina Birth Center in Chapel Hill.

Will you photograph
a scheduled C-Section?

As long as your provider agrees to allow me in the operating room, I’ll be there for you!

Will you share photos from my birth?

Your birth space is intimate, and I would never share your Birth Story with the world without your permission. If you do choose to allow me to use your images online, you’ll approve any images before I post them. I also avoid sharing identifying details like faces, jewelry, or tattoos.

Do you offer
payment plans?

I do! Professional photography is certainly an investment, but one that I try to make accessible to as many families as possible. I am happy to set up a payment plan.
